“Thank you for the box of DVD’s and CD’s. You know that you have been deployed way too long when you have 20 guys with guns, sitting in the dark, around a computer, and all watching Legally Blonde. I didn’t realize how strange that probably is until our Commander came in and laughed at us.

“Thanks for taking the time out of your life to do something like this. We are at a small camp in Northern Afghanistan. We don’t get a lot of support out here because of the terrain. All of our missions are on foot and resupplies by helo. Thanks again for your support and good luck with everything you do.”

Are you ready to do some inspirational “Spring Cleaning” ? There is a non-profit group that has addresses to send your surplus music and movies to soldiers overseas. Because of the military APO address, it doesn’t cost any more to send a package overseas than within the US. Often the soldiers receiving the package write a “thank-you” note like the one above which was taken from the website

Tunes 4 the Troops collects and sends new and used CDs, DVDs, and books on CD for the Troops serving overseas. Game systems, iPODS/mp3 players, and iTUNES gift cards are a new addition that has been made from troop requests. (www.tunes4thetroops)

Tunes 4 the Troops was started by 15 year old Kaylee Marie Radzyminski during the Summer of 2005.  Kaylee Marie is now a sophomore attending Tennessee Tech University, and the university has offered to continue the mission of Tunes 4 the Troops in order to provide much needed entertainment to the troops serving our country.

One person with a passionate cause can have a large effect on the world. What non-profit are you participating in?
